Millbrook Man Struck Woman With Lamp, Police Say

MILLBROOK, N.Y.– State Police were called to a Millbrook home after a call that there had been a domestic dispute on the evening on Sunday Oct. 4.  

When the police arrived, they determined that a woman at the residence had been struck in the head with a lamp causing a cut to her scalp and a fractured arm. The suspect, 52-year-old Andrew Chikotas, had fled the scene prior to police arriving. 

An ambulance took the victim to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital to be treated for her wounds. 

Chikotas was located a short time later and taken into police custody without incident and was charged with second degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. 

He was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash bail over $80,000 bond. He appeared at the Town of Washington Court on October 6, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.
